DEA Controlling Opioid Production

Back in the spring, the Office of the United States Attorney General promulgated a highly important rule that received scant little media attention.  This rule permits the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency to limit production by manufacturers of opioids if it determines that a manufacturer is acting irresponsibly.  It is an extraordinary amount of power to place in a single agency, and a sign of the times.  While the order is of questionable constitutional standing because of over-reach, it sends out a clear message which in of itself should keep manufacturers in line and have an impact on the willfully blind mass production that has put us in such dire straits.
