We know about all the damage alcohol does to our liver and all the other internal organs, but a recent study proves that it actually significantly impacts us on a cellular level as well.  This puts drinkers at higher risk of age related illnesses such as cardio-vascular disease, cancer and dementia.  The results showed that alcoholic patients had shorter telomeres, which are protein caps at the end of chromosomes and serve as markers for aging and overall health.  This is actually the opposite of what occurs in people who exercise regularly, whose telomeres stay long and healthy.  This serves as an excellent reminder of the incredible benefits that come with recovery.  Proof that our lives are not only happier and healthier, but now also longer as a result of our major positive change in the right direction.
